February '07 - What's Been Going On

Hi everyone- mom said it has been way too long since I've written anything substantive up here- so I thought I'd take a moment to fill you all in on some of the big changes that have been happening in my world.

1. I can crawl! It started out as a scoot, and then it was sort of like a frog hop. I would get on all fours and then stand on my feet and push up- I usually would land a few inches forward but either face planted or belly flopped (frustrating!)...but now I can move my arms in a criss cross and somehow my legs follow. My mom wants me to add that this has made my parents have to fast track the baby proofing!

2. I can sit up by myself- yes, I know that's not such a big deal- but I can get on my bottom all by myself- no one has to help. It's really fun- I can crawl to my toy and sit down to play with it...My mom isn't quite sure when this happened. All she knows is that she turned her back for a couple of moments while I was playing on my belly and when she turned around again I was sitting up.

3. I can pull myself up to stand. I don't know why my mom and dad think this is such a big deal- what do they think legs are for anyway? It happened for the first time like this...I was looking at my aquarium bouncer seat, wondering why they don't sit me in it that much anymore. I wanted to get close, really close to the water but I was on the floor...so I grabbed hold of the seat, pulled with my arms and pushed with my feet. And, yes, I did fall over a few times on the way up but it wasn't any big deal. I did it for the first time in front of Dad, mom caught me on camera later the same day (see the post below).

My mom wants me to add that all these developments happened in the course of two-weeks. I was just like a normal 7-month old wiggling around like everyone else, and then suddenly I took off and now nothing eludes me- not the cat, not my mom's mug of hot tea, not my rolling balls- it is just go go go from the moment I wake up until I go to sleep.

What a beautiful guy! Now that you're moving about all by yourself, Oran, your parents better look out for lots of little messes. Everywhere! Tell them to save the big clean up until the end of the day. Enjoy! Bruce3
